Meet The Team

Michelle Toner

General Manager

Born and raised in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, Michelle is a proud Alumni of Dalhousie University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as well as an alumni from the University of Windsor graduating with Masters in Human Kinetics in Sport Management.

An avid lover of all things sport related, Michelle values athletics and believes it plays such an integral role in the development of our youth. She is proud to provide this event for Alberta athletes and to give our community an opportunity to be involved.

Michelle moved to Fort McMurray in July, 2006. She was a member of the operations team that opened the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre (SSWC) in 2007.

During her time at the SSWC, Michelle was a part of 3 National Championships and 7 Provincial Championships, Chairing the 2016 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship and Co-Chairing the 2009 Men’s CCAA Volleyball National Championship.

Michelle has two beautiful children ages six and four and is married to High School Administrator Brendan Toner.

Brandi Gartner

Culture, Protocol & Ceremonies Coordinator

Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Brandi moved to Fort McMurray in 2007. In her professional experience, Brandi has built relationships with local social profit organizations, government organizations, and the various communities across our region.

She has extensive experience in coordinating large community gatherings that celebrate our history and traditions such as National Aboriginal Day and Alberta Culture Days. In her personal time, she enjoys helping at community events such as handing out treats in community parades, running photo booths at school dances, and setting up trees at the Festival of Trees.

Throughout her life, Brandi has balanced her love of culture and athletics. Growing up, she played various competitive sports including basketball, volleyball, softball, and track. She is passionate about all forms of dance, focusing her training as an instructor and choreographer of Ukrainian Folk Dance and performing middle eastern belly dance at various local events.

Charity Wiley

Athlete Services Coordinator

Born & Raised in Fort McMurray, Charity is no stranger to the Alberta Games and represented Zone 7 as the Chef de Mission at the last 6 Alberta Winter and Summer Games (2012, 2014, 2016). She was also a member of the Team Alberta North Mission Staff for the 2012 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, YK.

Taking the court, Charity played basketball for Team Alberta in the 2004 Arctic Winter Games when they were hosted in Wood Buffalo and won a golden Ulu!

She previously worked with the Alberta Sport Development Centre (ASDC) at Keyano College from Sept. 2009 - Sept. 2016; first as the Program Facilitator/Team Trainer and then as the Coordinator. Alberta Games provided a direct link with Northeastern Alberta athletes and the Athlete Enhancement Program identifying provincial and national athletes who qualified for holistic sport services.

Eden Boutilier

Marketing, Communications & Promotions Coordinator

Born and raised in Glace Bay – Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Eden moved to obtain a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, later heading to Fort McMurray in fall 2014.

Prior to joining the Games, Eden worked at Keyano College in Communications and Marketing where she had the opportunity sit on the Host Committee for both the 2016 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship and the 2016 CCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship hosted in Fort McMurray. Eden also sat on the Local Organizing Committee for the recent Men’s Volleyball U21 Pan Am Cup.

Eden is a sport and recreation enthusiast, in 2013 she spent almost two months in Ghana as a recreation volunteer helping coach U21 and U14 soccer in the Volta Region. She has roots in cross-country, track, soccer, rugby, boxing, and cheerleading. Eden has a competitive spirit and previously competed in pageantry leading her to represent Canada internationally in both Turkey and the Philippines. During her free time, Eden enjoys travel and spending time with family near and far.

Patty Blomberg

Sport & Venue Coordinator

Born and raised in Ontario, Patty moved to Fort McMurray over three years ago after spending 20 years living and working in Whistler, BC. During that time she gained the opportunity to be a part of the execution of multiple World Cup Snowboard Cross and World Cup Freestyle skiing events.

She draws from her extensive experience in winter sport events and facility management, having worked two Winter Olympic Games, taking on the role of Venue Operations Manager at the Whistler Sliding Centre (Bobsleigh, Skeleton & Luge), during the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Patty grew up as a sports enthusiast, including playing soccer for over 25 years, and is an avid alpine skier and snowboarder. She is excited to play a major role in this provincial multi-sport event hosted here in the Wood Buffalo Region!

Robin Moore

Office Administrator

Born and raised in southern Manitoba, Robin moved to Fort McMurray in 1991 where she graduated from Composite High School and attended Keyano College in the Business Administration Program.

Robin is as passionate about the community and enjoy helping others. From her experience as Office Coordinator for the 1995 Canadian Triathlon Championships and Administrator for the 2003 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games, her role as Office Administrator for the 2018 Wood Buffalo Alberta Winter Games was a great fit. With 26 years under her belt in Fort McMurray, her work experience with the Municipality, years of working with seniors and volunteering with the United Way have helped Robin build relationships with local social profit organizations.

She enjoy spending time with friends and family near and far! In her spare time she enjoys reading, writing and photography. She can often be found spending the weekend at the cottage with friends and her pets.
